ShipNet’s goal is to help our customers improve their business processes, both within the company as well as with outside business partners by closer integration driven by smart and flexible design. A company’s business process has its start and end points, usually with a number of people involved in the process chain until the process has completed. By design, our software supports and adds efficiencies to these processes, in combination with our service offerings.

Still, companies are made up of people, and you cannot expect to improve a business process to its potential unless you optimize people’s part in and interaction with each business process they are a port of. Hence, ShipNet’s software design philosophy is based on our user triangle paradigm, with the intention of simplified daily work by adapting the user interface to the following three dimensions:

My functionality : for example accounting, position book, voyage account, query, etc.
My data : for example a selection of ships or voyages
My responsibilities (tasks): the intersection of my data and my functionality, for example to invoice a customer when a ship has reported B/L figures. The user triangle is the core concept in ShipNet’s functionality efforts, enabling users to become more productive through a flattened user interface providing them with only relevant data and functionality to operate on it.

ShipNet will continue to evaluate new features or functions through the prism of the user triangle to ensure a focus on efficiency in the work processes and day-to-day use of the system. The ShipNet architecture supports the “Lego block” concept allowing great flexibility in combining existing logic and components (building blocks) in various new ways to meet new demands.
The obvious benefit for customers is a system with great flexibility and adaptability whilst at the same time it is a standardized product.

The benefit for ShipNet is a reduced code base offering more functionality with reduced cost on development, quality assurance and support.

Service-oriented architecture – SOA

The thinking behind SOA is to unify business processes by structuring large applications as a collection of smaller modules called services where new functionality is built from a combination of these services.

SOA fits very well with ShipNet’s strategy for external integration and evolutionary progression. Building new applications or functionality through combining existing services with new services makes achieving the desired goal and speed much easier and more deployable.

Liner Management

The ShipNet Liner Solution provides a fully integrated platform for the commercial, operational and financial departments of Liner Operators. The Solution provides seamless integration between the modules. Full support for Containers, LCL Breakbulk, Unitised Cargo and Ro-Ro.

Professional Services is the Business Consulting department of ShipNet, offering implementations services based on corporate standards with regards to:

Time to deliver (standardizing pre-configurations to speed up basic delivery)
We believe cost-effective implementation has to do with easier configuration, standardized content, pre-defined deliveries (not less flexible), more intuitive (ease of use) and with less errors.

We focus on customer value creation to ensure that the cost is closely related to where the customer is willing to invest, rather than wasting the customer’s money and project time on configuration.

A classic failure in software projects is to let the implementation part take up a larger part of the total project cost, hence less time and money is left for value creation and securing the expected outcome of the investment for the customer.
